Default Listening to "Forgotten" Guild Wars Music while playing?

I've been playing GW for so long and all i hear is that crap that you usually hear in Hero's Ascent since i usually do HA. It's been two years and nothing has changed. I wonder if there's a way to get those music from pre-searing or the ones from the shiverpeaks in certain areas such as pvp arenas or to displace the disgusting nightfall music or funky, non-medieval EotN music.

Guess you could do that and turn off the in-game music :P

Not sure if it works without having additional content from DirectSong and just the default music. I guess you could always just grab the free SF music pack from them.

Or fire up Winamp playing, say, Corvus Corax, Dargaard, Arcana, and Mediaeval baebes, switch to GW and turn off the in-game music. Hep! A much darker and mediaeval experience. Some volume-fiddling may be necessary to get the Winamp music to neither drown out nor drown in the in-game sound effects.

DirectSong.

Apply DirectSong to your computer, and edit the GuildWars.ds file. I have no idea which areas are Heroes' Ascent and which are pre-searing (some areas are labeled, others aren't).

The file itself provides bare instructions on what to do if you wish to edit it (open it up in a text editor).

Get it here:
www.directsong.com/zip/

You'll need both the GuildWars.ds file and the ds_GuildWars.dll file, in addition to a registry entry so that the game will look for the two files. If you can, get a free music pack available at DirectSong, which will automatically add the registry entry as well as both the .ds and the .dll file to your computer.

Yeah DirectSong is the way to go (or WinAmp).

Find these lines in your GuildWars.ds file:

outglda:
outgldb:

Add the paths to your own music (i.e. the music from the Soundtrack Disks if you own any. They also have the original music that plays in the tutorial. You can use the music files which are shipped with the DirectSong music packs as well). Use other entries as examples, because the paths must be written in a specific way (or the music won't play). The GuildWars.ds file should have an explanation at the beginning.

Now you'll hear other tracks in any PvP Outpost on the PvP island, except in the HB outpost for some reason.

If you want specific music tracks (i.e. on the final HA map or any other map), you must use the level tags instead.

This is done with LXX:PathToMusicFile.

XX stands for the level. L75 is the Hall of Heroes.
A complete list of levels can be found here: Link

Gaile wrote a small guide how and what you can change in the GuildWars.ds file.

EDIT: Supported formats are: *.wma, *.mp3 and possibly *.wav, I haven't tested it though. *.ogg doesn't work.

I'm currently playing Heroes of Might and Magic V. The soundtrack from that game is a blast.

Especially the dwarven (Fortress) one. I love the combat music. You can almost feel how a raging dwarf smashes his hammer into your face.

Thanks to DS it plays in any dungeon now Not comparable to the rather lame Kurzick Theme from the original GW EotN Soundtrack.

Edit the ".ds" file from directsong and insert any tunes you want. You can download the Sorrows Furnace pack for free.

There is a thread by Gaile Gray about how to read and interpret the .ds file here on the forum.
